The families of two police officers, Rachel McCrow and Matthew Arnold, who were killed in a shooting ambush in rural Queensland, have issued a statement for National Police Remembrance Day. The officers were shot dead while carrying out a welfare check at a property in Wieambilla. The suspects, Nathaniel Train, Gareth Train, and Stacey Train, opened fire on the police. The families described Rachel and Matthew as bright, brave, thoughtful, and kind, and said they always put others before themselves. The Trains were later fatally shot by tactical police, and an inquest into the incident is scheduled for next year.
