Ayodhya, the temple town in Uttar Pradesh, is preparing for a grand Deepotsav ceremony on the eve of Diwali, with the aim of setting a new Guinness World Record by lighting 24 lakh earthen lamps. The event will include the recreation of Lord Ram’s homecoming after 14 years of exile, and a grand light-and-sound show. The UP government is encouraging public participation by allowing people to contribute towards the lighting of the lamps. This year’s Deepotsav comes ahead of the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of the idol of Lord Ram at the grand temple in Ayodhya in January 2023.
