Our 'quick read' news summary

USA Hockey has announced that it will require neck laceration protection for all players under the age of 18 starting from August 1. This decision comes after the death of a player in England who was struck in the neck by a skate blade. The International Ice Hockey Federation has already mandated neck guards for players at all levels in its tournaments. USA Hockey’s decision also includes on-ice officials under 18 and 19-year-old players at the boys, girls, or junior level. The organization strongly recommends that adults wear neck protection as well.
