U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan has urged Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to use China’s influence on Iran to stop the Houthis in Yemen from attacking Red Sea trade routes. The appeal was made during two days of meetings in Bangkok. They also discussed various other topics including Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Myanmar’s civil war, North Korea, Israel’s war with Hamas, the South China Sea, fentanyl, and artificial intelligence. The meeting aimed to build on commitments made during a previous summit between the two countries. The U.S. hopes China will help bring about denuclearization in North Korea.
