U.S. Air Force veteran Jenn Hassin is using art to help displaced female Afghan soldiers heal. She has been teaching them how to transform their clothing into colorful paper pulp that can be molded and shaped. The art helps the Afghan servicewomen process the chaos of the fall of their country and the loss of their military careers. The women had to burn their uniforms before fleeing Afghanistan. The art exhibit in Manhattan showcases their work and allows them to express themselves as women. The artwork is available online and the exhibit will continue until the end of the month.
