New South Wales teachers are set to receive their largest pay rise in decades, as the state government aims to address the ongoing shortage of educators. The Teachers Federation Council has endorsed the offer from the NSW government, which will see starting salaries increase from $75,791 to $85,000, and top-scale salaries rise from $113,042 to $122,100. The new agreement will affect 95,000 teachers across the state and will come into effect on October 9. The government claims it is the biggest pay rise teachers have had in almost three decades. Teachers Federation acting president Henry Rajendra praised the “historic” advance.
