Balanced News: Suu Kyi requests for ‘urgent’ dental treatment go unheeded

Former State Counsellor of Myanmar, Aung San Suu Kyi, is in urgent need of dental treatment while in detention, but her request for permission to seek treatment has been ignored by the junta authorities. Suu Kyi, who has been sentenced to 27 years in prison, has requested approval to visit a dentist outside of detention to treat gum disease and severe toothaches. Despite the matter being reported to the Ministry of Interior, no response has been received. Suu Kyi’s son has stated that his mother is being denied treatment and is suffering from vomiting and dizziness, making her unable to eat.
