Sudanese army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan has traveled to Qatar for talks with Qatar’s emir, his third trip abroad since the war began with paramilitaries. The discussions will cover bilateral relations, common interests, and the situation in Sudan. The regular Sudanese army has been at war with the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces since April 15. Burhan has previously visited Egypt and South Sudan to seek help in ending the conflict. The war has resulted in the death of at least 5,000 people and displaced 4.8 million, with the numbers expected to increase.
