A man in Melbourne was caught riding an e-scooter while allegedly three times over the legal alcohol limit. The 32-year-old was intercepted by police in the central business district and blew a breath alcohol reading of 0.133. As a result, his license was immediately disqualified for 13 months, and he was fined $817. Additionally, he received a further fine of $240 for not wearing a helmet. E-scooter riders in Victoria can lose their licenses if caught with a blood alcohol limit over 0.05, with penalties equivalent to those for car drivers.
