Sir Bernard Ingham was Margaret Thatcher’s long-standing press secretary, and he passed away after a short illness at the age of 90. Sir Bernard was known for his fierce dislike of “spin” in the media, and he was critical of those who practised it during Lady Thatcher’s time as Prime Minister. Sir Bernard was also knighted in Lady Thatcher’s resignation honours, and he wrote a book about his experiences in Downing Street, Kill The Messenger. He leaves behind a son, two grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
