Senegalese President Macky Sall has nominated his Prime Minister, Amadou Ba, as the candidate for his party in the 2024 presidential election. President Sall, who has been in office since 2012, declared earlier this year that he would not seek a third term. Ba, who has been serving as prime minister since September 2022, was chosen from a pool of approximately ten declared candidates within the presidential party. The government coalition, Benno Bokk Yakaar, has declared Ba as the preferred candidate for victory in the first round. Ba’s nomination was formally approved during a meeting of coalition leaders.
