Balanced News: Railways Fined Rs 30k As Train Halts Beyond Platform, Elderly Man Forced to Jump Off

An elderly man from Chennai was forced to jump off a train in Gujarat’s Ankleshwar railway station after the train stopped beyond the platform. The incident occurred in December 2021, and the platform extension was completed 10 months later in October 2022. The Indian Railways was fined Rs 30,000 for the incident, with the railways ordered to pay Rs 25,000 to the complainant for deficiency in service and Rs 5,000 as litigation expenses by the Chennai (North) District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission.
