In response to the increase in irregular crossings at the Quebec-U.S. border, the Canadian and U.S. governments announced a new agreement on Friday that will stop most migrants from entering Canada via Roxham Road. This has led to concern in New York state, where the town of Plattsburgh is worried about how to handle an influx of migrants if they no longer can enter Canada via Roxham Road. Quebec is pleased with the agreement and is asking other provinces to welcome the additional migrants that Canada will take in under the agreement.
