A mother has criticized Waikato District Health Board in New Zealand for not delivering her twins earlier, despite her pleas. The woman, who was in her 30s at the time, first went to the hospital with headaches and high blood pressure when she was 12 weeks pregnant. She was admitted to the hospital later on due to concerns about the babies’ growth. At 30 weeks and three days gestation, one of the twins was found to have died. The mother also claimed that staff ignored her cultural need as a Māori to have family present at the birth.
