Balanced News: More than 80 homes bulldozed for road project that may not go ahead

Residents in Mountain Creek on the Sunshine Coast are angry after their homes were bulldozed to make way for a new road upgrade that may not go ahead. The Queensland government resumed 135 homes for the Mooloolah River Interchange project, with 84 being bulldozed. Over $80 million in taxpayer funds were handed out as compensation. However, last week the federal government withdrew its funding, effectively cancelling the project. Residents are now concerned that they have lost their homes for nothing and have not received any updates on the situation. Transport Minister Mark Bailey believes the project will still proceed but may require additional funding.
