Microsoft has announced a range of products for developers that draw on OpenAI’s technology, including the GPT-4 large language model, which powers OpenAI’s viral chatbot ChatGPT. The collaboration between the two companies is seen as critical for third-party developers to keep enriching Microsoft’s own software properties and make its Teams communication app a more obvious hub for companies’ processes and tasks. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella pushed for the incorporation of GPT-4 directly into Teams and older Microsoft products, such as the Bing search engine, often resulting in bots branded with the name Copilot.
