Prominent Myanmar LGBTQ activist Sue Sha Shinn Thant has been sentenced to 22 years in prison by a junta court in Mandalay. Obo Prison Court handed down the sentence on Monday for allegedly violating Section 505 (b) of Myanmar’s Penal code for inciting sedition against the State, and Section 50 (j) of the Counter Terrorism Law for aiding and abetting murder. Sue Sha Shinn Thant was arrested in Mandalay after junta troops ran her over in a vehicle on Oct. 2, 2021.
