David Boyd, a sex offender, has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 29 years for the murder of seven-year-old Nikki Allan in 1992. Boyd lured the child into a derelict warehouse in Sunderland’s East End before stabbing her 37 times, then leaving her dead or dying in the basement. Boyd was convicted of murder this month, but police originally focused on an innocent man, George Heron, who was later acquitted. Nikki’s mother, Sharon Henderson, has fought to see justice done for her daughter and said she has spent more than 30 years fighting for justice.
