Our 'quick read' news summary

Visa holders in New Zealand are being targeted by an increasing number of phishing scammers pretending to be immigration officers. The scammers make automated phone calls claiming the recipient has visa issues and request personal information and payment to resolve the issues. CERT NZ received over 400 reports of such scams towards the end of last year, the highest number for this type of immigration phishing scam. Other scams using the immigration narrative, such as fake websites and job scams, are also on the rise. Visa holders are urged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
