Yemen’s Houthi rebels targeted a US warship and a British vessel in missile attacks in the Gulf of Aden. The USS Carney successfully shot down the missile, causing no damage or injuries. The British-owned ship, M/V Marlin Luanda, was struck and damaged but no injuries were reported. These attacks mark an escalation in the Houthi’s campaign against maritime traffic. The US has been conducting airstrikes against the rebels since January, but they have not deterred the attacks. The Houthis have now threatened to target American and British ships as well.
