The heavy snowfall in the Northeast and California has caused major disruptions to the morning commute, with schools in southern New England either closing for the day or delayed opening. There have been over 450 flight cancellations and over 650 delays in the U.S. so far, with the worst being over by sunrise. In California, residents are still digging out from last week’s powerful storm. The new series of storms arrived even as parts of California were still digging out from last week’s snow siege, which added to a massive snowpack left by a siege of “atmospheric rivers” in December and January. Blizzard warnings were in effect in the Sierra Nevada range in California and Nevada.
