An undisclosed number of dismembered bodies were found in two abandoned vehicles in the Gulf coast state of Veracruz, Mexico. A banner left on one of the trucks indicated that the crime was carried out by the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). It is suspected that the victims may be Guatemalans. The Veracruz state interior department believes the killings were a result of a turf war between criminal gangs. Veracruz has a history of violence linked to cartels and is known for its clandestine body dumping grounds. The authorities have vowed to bring those responsible to justice.
