After 110 days of the Israeli military offensive in Gaza, hunger is becoming a major issue for the community. Around 1.9 million residents, or 85% of the population, have been displaced from their homes. Egypt’s President Al-Sisi accused Israel of blocking the delivery of aid for political reasons, claiming that Egypt’s Rafah crossing is always open but Israel’s procedures are hindering aid delivery. The UN humanitarian office reported that between Jan. 1 and Jan. 10, Israel only allowed three out of 21 deliveries of food, medicine, and other essential supplies to northern Gaza. The military offensive is now focusing on Gaza’s south.
