On the 25th anniversary of India’s first successful liver transplant, the recipient, Sanjay Kandasamy, who was only 20 months old at the time, has grown up to become a doctor himself. Kandasamy recently got engaged and plans to marry next year. The event also celebrated the 500th pediatric transplant surgery at Apollo Hospitals, with one-and-a-half-year-old Prisha being the recipient. Both families were felicitated by actress Dimple Kapadia. Over 4,300 liver transplants, including 515 in children, have been performed at Apollo hospitals since the first transplant. Prisha’s mother expressed hope that her daughter would also become a doctor like Sanjay.
