Thousands of Queenslanders may be entitled to over $200 million in unclaimed funds from the Public Trustee of Queensland. The trustee has received a new lodgement of nearly $3 million and is urging people to check their unclaimed monies register. Businesses and companies that owe customers money but cannot locate them are required to give the funds to the Public Trustee after a certain period of time. Some of the biggest unclaimed funds are from deceased estates, with one amount currently waiting to be claimed at $1.3 million. Last year, the largest amount claimed was $420,000.
