On February 22, five people related to activist teacher Win Soe were killed in their home in Yangon by six people in civilian clothes – believed to be pro-junta militia members. This attack shows that activists and their families are also being targeted in urban areas, not just the countryside. Pro-junta supporters have formed militia groups with the help of the military, and often target and attack supporters of the opposition party and political activists. The family members were named as San Nwet, a 50-year-old woman, Ko Maung and Win Nwe, each 30 years old, and Aung Maung, the 80-year-old man. The 3-year-old boy was not named. They were buried in Hpaung Gyi cemetery on February 25, local sources said.
