The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has conducted searches at nine locations in Kerala in connection with a Rs 150 crore scam in the Karuvannur Service Cooperative Bank Ltd, which is allegedly controlled by the Communist Party of India (Marxist). The ED has arrested the prime accused and seized gold, cash, and documents worth crores of rupees. The investigation revealed that loans were disbursed to non-members through benamis and properties of poor members were mortgaged without their knowledge. The case, which began in 2010, has triggered a political controversy in the state.
