A polio and measles vaccination campaign has started in the North Kivu province of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), targeting 87,578 children aged between six and 59 months. The week-long campaign will focus on pre-selected localities, with vaccination teams visiting families who cannot reach the sites. The DRC has recently seen a “particularly virulent” measles epidemic, with 1,800 deaths recorded last year, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
