When the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) resumed hostilities with the Myanmar military in 2011, hundreds of people were forced to flee their homes and live in camps. In December 2022, junta officials promised to help the displaced people return home, but this has not yet happened. However, the Kachin Baptist Convention is providing assistance to the returnees. Displaced people who want to return home face huge uncertainties because other people have already settled in their old villages. The Kachin Baptist Convention is also helping to organize the returnees’ marches.
