The House of Representatives convened on Friday to vote on a sweeping, $1.7 trillion spending bill that would keep the government from running out of money at midnight and send an additional $45 billion to Ukraine. “This bill is a critically important piece of legislation not only to keep our government funded, keep our people being served but also to show that the United States of America’s government works,” House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said ahead of the vote. Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi arrives for her final weekly press briefing in the US Capitol Visitor Center in Washington, D.C., on Dec. 22, 2022.
