According to a study published Monday in the journal Nature Water, climate change is intensifying droughts and floods by driving more extreme weather events. The study found that the most severe event of the last two decades was the extreme rain that hit sub-Saharan Africa beginning in 2020. The increase in extreme flooding and drought could hold “dire consequences” for human health, crops, and regional unrest.
