A new report by the Environmental Defense Fund and ElectrifyNY reveals that nearly one in four New York State residents live within a half-mile of a mega-warehouse. These warehouses, which are used for various purposes such as e-commerce and manufacturing, can disrupt daily life with increased noise, light, and diesel pollution from truck exhaust. The pollution from these warehouses has been linked to health issues such as childhood asthma and other respiratory problems. The report also highlights that Black, Hispanic, and low-income populations are disproportionately affected by the proximity to these warehouses.
