A new study by the Pew Research Center has found that the majority of Black Americans see racist or negative depictions of their race in the news media. The survey of nearly 5,000 Black adults revealed that 80% of respondents see racist or racially insensitive depictions of their race in the news either often or sometimes. Additionally, 63% of respondents said that news about Black people is often more negative compared to other racial or ethnic groups. The study also highlighted concerns about the lack of effort to cover a broad range of Black communities and the need for more context in news coverage.
