Has Le Cornu family home found a new buyer?

The Advertiser has been told that the Taplin Group has bought the Le Cornu family’s house at 28 Sturt Rd, Brighton. The property, near the corner of Roberts St, was the site of a contentious, failed bid to subdivide the block for 28 houses.Taplin Group director Andrew Taplin, pictured, texted “no comment at this time” after The Advertiser left a message asking him about rumours of a purchase. The 1920s’ Brighton house and 9400sq m block is part of the estate of the late Le Cornu matriarch Llora Shirley Le Cornu. Holdfast Bay Council’s assessment panel last year refused the axing of 10 mature gum trees to allow for the subdivision. The Taplin real estate name is synonymous with Glenelg and surrounds and owns dozens of properties on Jetty Rd, [email protected]
