The 2030 FIFA World Cup will be hosted by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal, with the opening games to be played in South America. This will be the first World Cup to be held across three different continents. The decision to have the opening games in Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay is to commemorate the World Cup’s 100th anniversary, as the first-ever World Cup was held in Uruguay in 1930. All six hosting countries’ teams will automatically qualify to compete in the tournament. A unique centenary celebration ceremony will also be held in Uruguay’s capital, Montevideo.
