Balanced News: Beijing tests Manila’s nerves in disputed reef

China has once again attempted to block Philippine ships from delivering supplies to troops stationed at the Second Thomas Shoal in the South China Sea. The Chinese Coast Guard and Chinese Maritime Militia vessels harassed and blocked the Philippine supply vessels, with one Chinese vessel using a water cannon against a Philippine supply boat. Despite the harassment, both supply boats successfully reached their destination. The Philippines has condemned China’s actions and made diplomatic protests against China’s violations of its sovereignty in the South China Sea. The Second Thomas Shoal is claimed by the Philippines, China, Vietnam, and Taiwan.
