Our 'quick read' news summary

According to the Council of Jewish Institutions in France (CRIF), anti-Semitic acts in France nearly quadrupled in 2023 compared to the previous year, totaling 1,676 incidents. Approximately 60% of these acts involved physical violence, threatening words, or menacing gestures. Shockingly, nearly 13% of the anti-Semitic acts took place in schools, particularly in junior high schools. The spike in anti-Semitism is the worst on record, with a third of the acts glorifying jihadism and a quarter being “calls to murder.” The increase in discrimination is believed to be a result of the October 7 attack by Hamas on Israel.
