Amazon’s Prime Video has secured the exclusive rights to stream an NFL playoff game next season, according to a source. The company earned the right by meeting certain viewership metrics during the past season’s “Thursday Night Football” agreement. In 2021, Amazon agreed to pay around $1 billion annually for the exclusive rights to Thursday Night Football. Last month, NBCUniversal’s Peacock streamed an NFL Wild Card game exclusively, and it had hoped to continue with the streaming-only playoff matchup next season. Amazon is investing in sports broadcasting to boost its Prime membership, which currently has around 200 million subscribers worldwide.
