Randolph, a historic Black community in central Arizona, is fighting against an electric utility’s proposal to expand its gas-fired power plant. The community fears the plant will cause further harm to residents and is not in the public interest. Despite the community’s victory last year when the state regulator rejected the proposal, SRP has refused to take no for an answer and is still trying to get the community to back down. In an effort to get what it wants from the community, SRP has offered to finance a number of projects, but the community is refusing to back down.
